Met officer ‘attacked woman he met through his police duties’

A former Met Police officer who was based in the force’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command appeared in court charged with raping a woman he met through his job. Mark Tyrrell, 55, faces two counts of rape, 11 of sexual assault and four of sexual assault by penetration. Tyrrell was charged following an investigation by the IOPC, the police watchdog, and retired on 8 September 2023.
