Migrants were ‘expensive imports’

A people smuggler on the run after 39 Vietnamese were found dead in the back of a lorry described migrants as ‘expensive imports’, a court heard. Marius Draghici allegedly made the remark on 4 October while he was being driven by 43-year-old British Romanian trucker Gheorghe Nica, who denies he was a key player in the plot.
