Model’s ‘coke by mail’ plot

An Australian fashion model and her boyfriend tried to smuggle drugs into the country by post from Los Angeles, a court heard.

Siobhan O’Keefe, 26, and her boyfriend Jack Price, 27, are accused of importing opioids, amphetamines and psychoactive drugs from the US on 24 April.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard a parcel containing class A, B and C drugs was intercepted by Stansted Airport border officials.

The package was addressed to Price at his address in Maida Hill, northwest London, but had O’Keefe’s mobile number written on the package, it was claimed.

The haul was said to include 30 tablets of the stimulant dextro-amphetamine, three tablets of the psychoactive drug alprazolam and two tablets of the powerful opioid oxycodone.

Four snap bags containing ecstasy and a separate quantity of cannabis was also found by police six days later when they searched the couple’s home, the court heard.

Komal Varsani, prosecuting, said: ‘UK officers intercepted a parcel for Price’s address – two tablets of class A, 30 of class B and three of class C.

‘The defendant was informed the drugs were found and confiscated – this letter arrived on 27 April.

‘On 30 April police arrived at the defendants’ home address.

‘A search was conducted. Cannabis and MDMA were found at that address, and Price told police the drugs belonged to him.’

Magistrate Graham Barnes granted the couple bail ahead of their next hearing and said: ‘I’m sure you’ve heard what’s been said about you and the circumstances.

‘In the meantime you are on unconditional bail. You are free to enjoy your freedom.’

O’Keefe, of Sutherland Avenue, Maida Hill, northwest London, faces three counts of importing Class A, B and C drugs into the UK.

Price, of the same address, faces the same three charges and two of possessing class A and B drugs.

They now face a plea and trial preparation hearing at Isleworth Crown Court on 10 December.
