Valentin Lazar gets an extra five years after he admits assaulting Maria Rawlings before he murdered her

A Romanian labourer who murdered a grandmother with a wooden club embedded with nails had his sentenced increased by five years after he admitted assaulting her too. Valentin Lazar, 23, stripped, battered and strangled Maria Rawlings, 45, after following her from the EL3 double decker in Romford, east London, late on May 3, 2021. CCTV captured Lazar exiting the bus with the mother-of-two before guiding her towards some bushes. A dog walker discovered Ms Rawlings’ naked body the following day….
