Property developer did turn up to court because had tried to kill himself

A property developer whose wife left him for a Premier League footballer tried to kill himself on the day he faced sentence for cheating a property developer out of £2.5m. Elie Taktouk, 46, failed to attend Southwark Crown Court last Thursday after suffering a ‘breakdown’ and was jailed for seven years in his absence.
