Lawyer Philip Shiner who falsely accused Iraq war veterans was involved in massive legal aid scam

A former human rights lawyer who was struck off for pursuing false torture and murder allegations against Iraq war veterans today admitted a massive legal aid scam. Philip Shiner, 67, pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud dating back to 2007 following a five-year investigation by the National Crime Agency. Shiner, of Sir John Road, Birmingham, was struck off by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in 2017 after 12 charges of misconduct were proved against him by an SRA panel….
