Teenager who attacked two Jewish men ‘is mentally ill’

A teenager accused of attacking two Jewish shop owners has been transferred to a hospital wing for psychiatric treatment, a court heard. Malachi Thorpe, 18, allegedly assaulted Israel Grossman and Erwin Ginsberg – as they closed up their store in Cadoxton Avenue, Stamford Hill, on 26 January. Thorpe was allegedly armed with a bottle which smashed and both men, described as ‘visibly Orthodox Jewish’, were treated in hospital for injuries.
