‘The police threw me roughly to the ground’
A protester accused of assaulting a policeman during the ‘Unite the Nation’ march will claim officers threw him roughly to the ground. Lewis Siverns, 33, attacked the officer as he was dragged away from a crowd in Westminster during huge demonstration on September 13, it is claimed. Prosecutor Fahmida Azad told Westminster Magistrates’ Court that said police bodycams and mobile phone footage captured the incident. But Siverns, of Wolverhampton, claims he was ‘manhandled by police’ and ‘assaulted to the ground’….
