Trial for accused ISIS sympathiser

A Luton man accused of plotting to ran away to Syria to join Islamic State will stand trial in October.

Mubashir Jamil, 21, is accused of purchasing a flight to Turkey along with camping equipment to prepare him for life on the front line.

Appearing by video link from Wandsworth Prison, Jamil did not speak throughout the brief hearing at the Old Bailey.

He faces one charge of preparation of terrorist acts between 1 November 2015 and 28 April 2016.

A trial has been listed for 24 October.

Jamil, of Belmont Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, is due to formally enter his plea on 16 September.
