Trial for ‘£2,000 booze raider’

A burglar broke into a pub during lockdown and stole £2,000 of booze, a court heard. Desmond Kelly, 30, allegedly forced his way into The Regent Pub & Restaurant in Chestnut Grove, Balham on April 13 and stole 15 bottles of alcohol. The Irishman denied burglary and theft when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Kelly also faces unrelated charges of attempted burglary and assault against girlfriend Hannah Kirton.
