Trial for accused cot killer

A father accused of murdering his 14-year-old daughter by hurling her into her cot when she was a four-week-old baby will stand trial in September. Dean Smith, 45, killed Maisie Newell after he threw her at their home in Edgware, northwest London, on 26 August 2000. He has admitted manslaughter but denies murder and says he did not intend to kill her. Maisie was rushed to hospital with dreadful injuries to her skull and spine leaving her handicapped for life….
