A housewife accused of murdering her husband in a Surrey
wood for ‘lust and greed’ was having sex with the victim when her
lover and and a hitman struck, the Old Bailey heard today (tues).
Sandra Wignall, 48, had lured husband Bob, 55, into Sayes
Wood where he was ‘savagely’ murdered by her lover Terry Bewley, 42,
and Harold Moult, 43, the jury was told.
She performed a sex act upon Mr Wignall to lull him into
an ‘utterley false sense of security,’ said prosecutor Mr Timothy
Langdale.
Mr Wignall, ‘a good humoured, easy going and likeable
man’ was stabbed three times, twice in the heart and died before
help could arrive.
Pretending to be hysterical his wife was later to tell
police that her husband had been attacked by three unknown youths
after the couple had gone into the wood after dark to feed the
foxes.
Mr Langdale alleged that ‘lust’ was one motive because
Wignall was having a passionate affair with Bewley before and
after her marriage on Christmas Eve 1991.
Mr Wignall was not always able to satisfy her because
of his asthma and ‘it would appear from the way she spoke that sex
was the most important thing in her life,’ said Mr Langale.
Greed was the second motive because Bewley was in debt and
Wignall stood to gain pnds stlg 21,000 on her husband’s death from
his life assurance, the court heard.
Wignall who lived with her husband in Rowhurst Avenue,
Addlestone, Surrey; Bewley, of Trevor Crescent, Ruislip, Middx.
,
and Moult of Clissold Street, Birmingham, deny murder on September
5 last year.
The trial continues.
