A knife-wielding brute subjected a young mother to a sick sex
ordeal then calmly walked across the road to his home, the Old
Bailey heard today Monday.
Gary Oakley, 24, arrogantly made no attempt to stop his
victim seeing him go in the front door of his home in Virginia
Road, Thornton Heath, it was alleged.
Moments before, he had patted the 24-year-old’s dog as she
said goodnight to her boyfriend then stalked her down a darkened
alleyway, the jury was told.
She broke down in sobs in the witness box as she told how he
raped her there then tried to arrange a ‘date’ with her for the
following night.
Oakley, a former pet shop worker, denies rape and committing
an unnatural act (buggery).
Mr Dorian Lovell-Pank, prosecuting, said Ms X had thought
nothing of it when a passerby stopped to pat and talk to her
dog late on September 14 last year.
She was outside her Thornton Heath home saying goodnight to
her boyfriend at the time and did not even look at the man.
Ms X, who suffers from a speech impediment, had a WPC to act
as an interpreter as she told how she later walked the dog down
a darkened alleyway off nearby Ingram Road.
‘Someone went for my shoulder.
It was a man.
‘He pushed me down near a hedge and told me to lie down.
‘He put one hand on my throat so hard it hurt and the other
hand down my trousers.
‘He took my trousers off and loosened my drawers.
‘
She shook and sobbed as she described how she was raped,
subjected to another serious sexual assault (buggery) then raped
again by the man, who was armed with a pen knife.
‘He said if I told my family, he would shoot them and shoot
me.
‘He told me to meet him the next day.
‘
Oakley then dressed and ran off, said Mr Lovell-Pank.
‘He ran across the green and into a house in Virginia Road
which had arches near the door,’ continued counsel.
Ms X arrived home in ‘quite a state’ and immediately told her
family she had been raped.
She was later able to show police which house her attacker
had gone into.
It was one where Oakley lived with his parents, the court
heard.
He ‘closely matched’ the description given by her and had
been in the area on the way home from seeing a friend at the
time of the rape.
Oakley also had marks on his hands as if scratched by
fingernails, the court heard.
He denied attacking or even seeing the victim but fibres
from his jacket were found to match those found on her shirt,
the court heard.
The trial continues.
