Frank Warren was described as the ‘straightest man

Frank Warren was described as the ‘straightest man I have ever dealt with’ by veteran boxer, trainer and manager Brendon Ingle.

‘He was a breath of fresh air.

‘

The Dubliner, who discovered Prince Naseem Hamed, said he had worked in the
sport ‘from Scotland, to Wales and down to London’ said he had known Warren
for 20 years and worked closely with him for the last five.

Mr Ingle, who runs a Sheffield gym and received the MBE and an honorary degree from the city’s university, said of his friend: ‘It is a pleasure working with him.

You shake hands and whether it is an agreement or a contract, he is a
straight man and as good as his word.

‘

He said Warren’s biggest problem was being ‘too trusting’.

He added: ‘He is a very very good businessman, if I could fault him he is too honest and
trusting.

‘

But he said the sport was tough.

‘I thought I have had problems but I have gone home to my wife and said I would not do his job for pnds stlng 1 million a week.

‘He is working 24 hours a day and has to put up with a lot of hassle.

the
hassle he gets sickens me.

‘

Mr Ingle said Warren was also a dedicated charity worker.

‘But he is not one to blow his own trumpet.

‘

The trial continues.
