A paedophile who admitted a series of sex attacks
A paedophile who admitted a series of sex attacks on children and adults in the 1970s was told he faces an ‘inevitable’ jail sentence.
Ian Whittome, 45, of Fairmile Avenue, Streatham, pleaded guilty to 24 sexual offences on both boys and girls between 1973 and 1980, including acts of buggery, indecent assault on a male person, indecent assault and indecency with a child.
The children involved included four boys and three girls, the youngest being eight.
One of the victims was abused by Whittome until he was 20.
Whittome denied 21 further sexual offences and they were ordered to lie on the court file.
Judge Smith QC bailed Whittome while psychiatric and pre-sentence reports are prepared but warned him:
‘You obviously appreciate this is a very serious matter and the inevitability of a custodial sentence.
‘
Whittome will be sentenced on 8 December at Inner London Crown Court.
