Dhasmana refused to comment as he left the hearing but his supporters cheered and clapped amid shouts of ‘well done’ as he hopped into a waiting taxi.

But a spokesman for the Bristol Heart Children Action Group slammed the process of the GMC disciplinary hearing.

Steve Parker, chairman of the BHCAG, said: ‘Quite a lot of the families involved in this case are very, very angry about it because they feel Dhasmana should not be working at all.

‘His barrister has gone on about how he has suffered over the last three years – well these families will suffer for the rest of their lives.
