conkers…1

A teenager accused of stabbing an architecture student to death after he confronted youths who were pelting him with conkers has appeared at the Old Bailey today (Fri).

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was charged with the murder of Steven Grisales, from Enfield, after attending a police station with his solicitor.

Mr Grisales, 21, was set upon as he walked to Silver Street railway station in Edmonton, north London, on August 31.

Dressed in a black Adidas coat and sporting miniature dreadlocks, his alleged attacker, also from Enfield, made no application for bail and spoke only to acknowledge that he had understood the brief hearing before the Old Bailey.

Judge Christopher Moss QC told lawyers that he did not need to be told the facts of the case in detail as it was ‘notorious’.

Remanding the 15-year-old in custody to await a plea and case management hearing on November 16, he said: ‘Until that time, subject to any bail application, you must remain in custody.’

He will next appear before a youth court on October 5 to have his case formally committed to the crown court.
