An alleged knifeman accused of yelling ‘I’m going to kill a Muslim’ before stabbing a passenger on a busy train faces trial in June, the Old Bailey heard.

Adrian Brown, 38, stabbed Muhammed Aksar Ali as the train pulled into Forest Hill Station in southeast London around 1pm on 12 December last year, it is claimed.

He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting Filipa Dias by beating at the Honor Lea Hostel in Forest Hill on the same day.

Brown appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey today (Wed) wearing a maroon prison-issue tracksuit flanked by two guards.

He spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing.

Judge Stephen Kramer adjourned the case until 24 February and set a provisional date of 5 June for a trial which is expected to last between five and seven days.

He remanded Brown in custody and told him: ‘You will be back in this court on 24 February.’

Brown, of Honor Lea Hostel, Brockley Rise, Forest Hill, is yet to enter pleas to charges with one count of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and assault by battery.
