A teenager caused £7m of damage to London’s biggest mosque when he set it ablaze with a barbeque lighter, court heard. The 16-year-old, who comes from Surrey’s stockbroker belt, claims the fire at the Baitul Futuh mosque on London Road, Morden, was started accidentally. More than 70 firefighters took five hours to tackle the blaze and one worshipper was treated for the affects of smoke inhalation.
