Violent ex-boyfriend jailed for headbutting woman
A supermarket worker who headbutted his terrified ex-partner so hard she heard the bones in her nose crack has been jailed for 12 weeks.
Rory Cameron, 25, had been visiting his sick brother in hospital when he decided to share a taxi with Jessica Fearon to her flat in Fulham, London to collect his belongings.
The two had been in a toxic relationship for seven years which saw Cameron throw a mobile phone at her head and slap her, Westminster Magistrates Court heard.
Cameron, who worked as a Sainsbury’s customer assistant, told his partner he would leave her home soon but an argument about booking a taxi broke out on 22 April this year.
During the heated exchange he explained he wanted nothing to do with her or living with her, finally closing the soured romance.
Eager to get him out, Ms Fearon carried his bags to the door but was roughly grabbed from behind by the defendant.
Whirling around, she felt Cameron’s hot breath on her skin before he forcefully propelled his forehead onto the bridge of her nose.
She stumbled backwards in the hallway collapsing on the floor. The ordeal continued when Cameron lunged his bearded face into her.
After apologising to her she despondently replied ‘it is too late for that now’ and an enraged Cameron spun out of control again.
Towering over his terrified victim he pushed his head down so hard into her face the bones in her nose cracked.
Jailing the thug, District Judge Devinder Sandhu said: ‘In light of all of the circumstances of this case – the most important being the sustained nature of the assault and the previous conviction and caution – that the offence is so serious that only a custodial sentence is justified.
‘There is nothing about the facts of the case which led me to think a suspended sentence is appropriate.
‘This complainant needs protection.’
Cameron appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court wearing a tracksuit with hands slouched in his pockets.
He was also jailed for breaching his bail conditions when he turned up late to the trial mid-way through his ex-lover’s evidence on August 9 this year.
At the trial Sharon Michaels, prosecuting, said: ‘He stood over her and tried to apologise. He pushed his head into her face saying I am sorry. She remembered him pushing his head into her face and she said she could hear the bones crack.’
In September 2015 Cameron received a caution for slapping his partner and last year he got a community order after admitting launching a mobile phone at her head.
At Hendon Magistrates’ Court Ms Fearon had said: ‘The relationship came to an end just before 2016 and had lasted about seven years.
‘He was coming to collect his belongings from the beginning of April. He told me he would call a mini cab.
‘I thought he phoned a cab, but it turned out that he didn’t. I was just doing my washing up. When I finished I went into the front room to see what he was doing.
‘I asked him politely to go outside. He did not leave. I went to carry his things myself.
‘It was back and forth. He was pushing his face into my face. I pushed him away and then he started to get more angry and aggressive and ended up head-butting me.
‘I was trying to get to the door, and he did not want me to open the door. He head-butted me of the bridge of the nose.’
Cameron, of Netherwood Road, Hammersmith and Fulham, west London, was jailed for 12 weeks for one count of assault and one count of breaching his bail conditions.
He will serve six weeks and then be released.
