Accused conwoman denies ‘diamonds to pebbles’ swindle

A conwoman who allegedly posed as a gem expert to steal £4.2m worth of diamonds has denied involvement in the heist. Lulu Lakatos is accused of swapping seven diamonds for pebbles in Mayfair jewellers Boodles on 10 March 2016. Lakatos allegedly got into the family-owned boutique jewellers under the fake name ‘Anna’, pretending to be an expert gemologist hired by wealthy Russian businessmen seeking to purchase the diamonds.
