Babes in the Wood suspect ‘lied to give himself an alibi’

The prime suspect in the ‘Babes in the Wood’ murders of two schoolgirls repeatedly lied after he was first arrested in order to try and give himself an alibi, a court heard. Russell Bishop, 52, is accused of sexually assaulting and strangling nine-year-old best friends Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway in Brighton, East Sussex, in 1986. The two victims were last seen alive when they went out to play near their homes on an estate in Moulsecoomb on 9 October….
