A bank clerk was cleared of stealing nearly £10,000 from an elderly customer after telling jurors: ‘I’m not a fraud.’ Cheryl Ashill, 57, was said to have taken advantage of the mental state of Betty Lowe to make a series of cash withdrawals while working at a branch of NatWest in Upminster, Essex. The Old Bailey heard Ashill was captured on CCTV carrying out two of the transactions on her computer when the customer was not even at the bank….
