Bungling burglar escapes jail

A Polish drifter who was left bloodied in a drunken attempt to break into a flat was spared jail. Lukasz Poplawski, 31, jumped the rear fence before trying to force the back door of a ground-floor apartment in Paulet Road, Camberwell, on 10 December last year.
