Celebrity newspaper editor gets driving ban slashed after he tells court the Tube ‘isn’t very nice’

Former Independent and Observer editor Roger Alton has had his mandatory six-month driving ban slashed to just two months after he told a court a long Tube journey ‘isn’t very nice’. The 77-year-old journalist, who now writes for The Spectator, was pinged doing 27mph in a 20mph zone in his £40,000 Audi A5 S-Line in Brixton, south London, last November 5.
