Clueless midwife is thrown out of the profession

An agency midwife who ‘didn’t have a clue’ what to do as a baby gasped for breath has been struck off. Esther Mbakwe, 51, failed to act as the infant struggled to breathe while working a shift for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in September 2015. A junior colleague had to tell Mbakwe to turn on the baby’s oxygen mask, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard. The colleague told the hearing the midwife didn’t seem to know what to do…
