Cop in court accused of groping male colleague
A Met Police officer accused of sexually assaulting a male colleague at a training academy has appeared in court.
PC Joseph Demir, 24, allegedly groped the man at Hendon Training School on 10 March 2020.
PC Demir, attached to the North West Basic Command Unit, was a student officer at the time of the alleged sex assault.
He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today (tues) speaking only to confirm his identity.
Prosecutor Louise Ahmad said: ‘The parties are known to each other.
‘This defendant still holds his position albeit on very restricted duties.’
She asked for one bail condition – that PC Demir does not contact the complaint directly or indirectly.
Mick Titcheber, defending, said: ‘We’re content on bail with that condition it does not cause the defendant a problem in the slightest.’
PC Demir, of Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, was bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 28 April.
He was charged following an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
