Cops cleared of punching teenager

A police officer with Scotland Yard’s anti-gang unit has been cleared of punching a 14-year-old boy in the face. PC Paul Hyland, 34, was said to have attacked the robbery suspect as he sat handcuffed on his bed at his home in Poplar, east London. His colleagues PCs Frances Smythe, 25 and William Wright, 27, along with DS Ian Evans, 25, were cleared of failing to report Hyland’s actions. The boy, now 16, claimed he was ambushed in his boxers…
