Couple accused of murdering baby to face trial next June

A couple appeared in court today (thurs) charged with murdering their three-month old baby daughter. Kaylani Kalanzi was taken to Homerton Hospital in east London on 8 July and transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital following a 999 call by her parents. She died on 23 July with skull-related ‘shaking or impact’ injuries. Ugandan national Herbert Kalanzi, 34 and Nazil Merthoca, 23, were initially charged with causing a child to suffer serious physical harm to their daughter on 8 July….
