Extradited to stand trial for murdering this music producer

An alleged killer charged with murdering a music producer four years ago appeared in court following his extradition from the US.

Jahtel Williamson, 25, was allegedly part of a group of attackers who set upon Dean Pascal-Modeste armed with knives and machetes Dean Pascal-Modeste, 21, on 24 February 2017.

The killing in Mottingham, southeast London, was motivated by rivalry between two gangs even though Mr Pascal-Modeste was not involved in either, the court heard.

Williamson appeared at the Old Bailey charged with murdering Mr Pascal-Modeste following his extradition from Washington DC on Saturday 1 May.

Peter Ratcliffe, prosecuting, said: ‘That afternoon, the victim had travelled from East London to southeast London with two friends, Mr [Keanu] Noble and Mr [Gabriel]Tovarez.

‘The victim and Mr Noble were outside at Grove Park when a moped drove towards them.

‘One of them pointed a gun at them.’

The two friends ran off in different directions but Mr Pascal-Modeste ended up at a dead end.

‘He was set upon by a group of males in dark clothes.

‘That group were carrying weapons, including knives and machetes,’ said Mr Ratlife.

The victim died of his injuries including incise wounds to his left lung and blunt force trauma.

The court was told that the attackers were members of Lewisham’s ‘B-Side’ gang who have a long-standing rivalry with Grove Park’s ‘Splash Gang’.

Williamson, formerly of Greenhaven Drive, Greenwich, was remanded in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at the Old Bailey on July 21.
