Forensic evidence backlog in the light of Grenfell and terror attacks

  Criminal investigations are being held up for months because of the London terror attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire, the Old Bailey heard. Judge Michael Topolski QC was told that forensic evidence involved in a ‘straightforward’ attempted murder case will take three months to become available due to a backlog caused by the recent tragedies. Analysis of evidence from the blood-splattered crime scene and knives seized by the police will be put on hold because of the enormous workload….
