He stole mail with a sticky fly swatter

A  fraudster who used a fly swatter with double-sided adhesive tape to fish mail from letterboxes has been jailed for 19 months. Romanian Constantin Barbuc, 37, used the crude device to retrieve post from houses in the ‘richest areas’ of Maidstone, Kent, between May and August 2021. Barbuc stole at least £12,500 from 10 victims after using their personal details to apply for credit cards from banks including NatWest, Santander and Barclays.
