Jail for knife thug who lunged at shopkeeper

A thug who lunged at a shopkeeper with a knife was jailed for three years after a judge said he could have been facing a murder charge. Shopkeeper Sajaad Khan confronted Albin Vernege, 48, for allegedly trying to steal a drink from Food Inn, Canning Town, east London, in the early hours of 26 July.
