Latvian arranged sham marriages shock

A people trafficker is wanted in Latvia for arranging sham marriages in the UK and Ireland. Sergejs Jerofejevs, 37, fled to the UK in 2017 when Latvian police began investigating his activities, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard. ‘Mr Jerofejevs was involved in the arranging of transport for two women to travel to Ireland to marry foreign nationals and, through those marriages, obtain EU residency by deception,’ said Tom Hoskins, prosecuting. ‘Luckily, Latvian police grounded them before they could get to Ireland.’…
