More oil protesters, more damage, more ‘we’re saving the world’ explanations

Two Just Stop Oil protesters have denied smashing glass protecting Diego Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus in London’s National Gallery. Harrison Donnelly, 20, and Hanan Ameur, 22, allegedly attacked the 17th century painting of a nude goddess Venus gazing into a mirror held by Cupid on 6 November. Donnelly, of Sillitoe Way, Nottingham, and Ameur, of Hornsey Road, Islington, denied criminal damage when they appeared at Southwark Crown Court.
