Mother’s brawl in the furniture shop

Two mothers had a punch-up in a department store to settle a dispute between their daughters, a court heard.

Andrea Jones, 49, is accused of smacking Nevila Kamberaj in the Brent Cross branch of Homesense last October.

Jones believed her daughter was ‘physically and racially abused by the complainant’s daughter’, Willesden Magistrates’ Court heard.

During the incident Ms Kamberaj used her phone as a weapon ‘and put it in her face to prevent the defendant from taking a picture’, it is said.

Prosecutor Katie Weiss said: ‘This was an assault in a shop.

‘There was an argument between the defendant’s daughter and the complainant’s daughter which resulted in the defendant punching the complainant in the shoulder.’

Jones, wearing a black jumper and suit trousers, spoke to confirm her name deny one count of assault by beating.

Magistrate Val Crookes granted her unconditional bail ahead of her trial at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on 20 July.
