Police ram dangerous driver off the road
A driver was rammed by police after he led officers on a hair-raising chase down narrow country roads.
Nathan Law, 42 careered the wrong way through roundabouts and forced other drivers to swerve out of the way.
Law failed to stop for police and roared off in his black Vauxhall Astra which was soon lost.
But shortly the car was located by the Roads Policing Unit on Pathfinder Way in Melksham, Wiltshire where again he made off.
The pursuit eventually stopped following contact between the Astra and a police vehicle.
Law was arrested at the scene and charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.
Appearing before Swindon Magistrates Court, Law pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
He was also disqualified from driving for five years, five months and 28 days with a requirement to pass an extended driving test and must pay a £187 surcharge.
PC Ben Greening of Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: ‘This was some of the most shocking and dangerous driving that I have witnessed in my eleven years of policing.
‘His reckless behaviour showed absolutely no regard for the safety of members of the public and he was only brought to a halt following robust action on the part of pursuing officers.
‘We are determined to tackle such offenders and bring them before the courts.’
