A teenage robber who called himself ‘Satan’ has been locked away indefinitely for ‘truly dreadful’ attacks which left a train carriage spattered with blood.
The 17-year-old and his 25-year-old accomplice targeted a string of women passengers in a sickening late night rampage of crime.
They worked their way through the 22:30 Dartford to Charing Cross train on August 14 last year and left one of the carriages stained with the blood of a 49-year-old woman.
The teenager had swung from a luggage rail to deliver a vicious drop-kick, leaving her semi-conscious.
She also had her earrings torn from her ears as the 17-year-old proclaimed: ‘Call me Satan.’
He finally showed his blood-caked fist to other passengers as a warning not to raise the alarm.
The woman suffered ‘horrific’ injuries to her face and head and she has been too traumatised to return to work.
She said in an impact statement: ‘I will have to use the trains to get back to work once I am better and I know it’s going to be very difficult to do so.
‘My face is literally black and blue from bruising.’
Blackfriars Crown Court heard the younger robber was ‘acting up’ to impress the 25-year-old, who is mentally ill and now locked up in a secure unit awaiting trial,
But the thugs cannot currently be name for legal reasons.
Judge Henry Blacksell QC handed the teenager an indeterminate sentence for public protection, ordering he serve a minimum of five years before he is considered for release.
The judge said: ‘These were horrific offences, truly dreadful, because innocent passengers were subjected to a gratuitous campaign of violence at your hands.
‘I have concluded that you do indeed pose a significant risk of serious harm to members of the public by the commission of further serious offences.’
The 17-year-old, of Battersea, sw London, denied wounding with intent, two robberies, attempted robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two common assaults but was convicted by a jury following a trial in March.

The robbers got on at Dartford, and immediately caught the driver’s attention, looking ‘agitated, aggressive and smelling of alcohol, laughing and joking with each other.’
They were ‘chillingly’ aware of what they were about to do, the court heard.
They began by asking to borrow passengers’ mobile phones and finally demanded ‘Give me money’.
Judge Henry Blacksell QC said: ‘One of the girls was grabbed around her throat and when one of the males bravely tried to intervene they were attacked, repeatedly punched.’
The violence escalated as they moved through the train, with another woman being smashed in the face with a vodka bottle the 17-year-old had been swigging from.
Two ‘terrified’ students were beaten up after the teenager asked ‘Do you take us for dick heads?’
They then moved on to their fifth and final victim who the youngster began punching and kicking without warning.
As the 49-year-old lay defenceless and injured on a seat he grabbed a rail and swung his boot into her face.
Judge Blacksell said it was clear that the teenager got a perverse kick carrying out the attacks with the older robber.
The judge said: ‘You told the jury you were going round with him at the time because he made you laugh.
‘It may be that he was acting in a strange way but you were prepared to play up to that in a terrifying and brutal way.’
The court heard the woman was left as one witness described it ‘looking like a scene for a horror movie’.
‘Her blood was all over the carriage.
‘As it turned out it was all over you as well, along with blood of one of the Asian men who had been attacked earlier on.
‘They heard you say: ‘I think I f**ked her up.’
‘You then calmly went up to the students, showed your blood-covered fist to them and made sure they didn’t make any report.
‘Then you decamped from the train.’
He then went to his accomplice’s home to change his blood-stained clothes.
Judge Blacksell described the youth, who has previous convictions for violence and robbery, as ‘manipulative and dangerous’.
He had planned to admit some of the offences but when he heard his partner in crime was unfit to plead he chose to deny the spree.
He will start his sentence in a young offenders’ institution before being transferred to an adult prison.
He will serve a minimum of five years, less 254 days he spent in jail on remand awaiting trial.
Outside court Det Sgt Rob Hall, of British Transport Police CID, said: ‘The passengers who boarded this train and came into contact with the duo were very unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
‘This was a series of unprovoked vicious attacks, predominantly on women, by two very dangerous individuals who boarded the train with the sole intention of attacking and stealing from passengers.’
He said since the attack the victim has only used the train once to come to court and found that very traumatic.
He added: ‘These sorts of violent attacks are rare on the railways, but when they do occur we put as many resources as necessary into ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.’

The 17-year-old who called himself ‘Satan’ was convicted of wounding with intent to cause
49-year-old Susan Davis grievous bodily harm and robbery of her jewellery, tobacco, and cigarette papers.
He was also convicted of robbing Maria Sewell of a mobile phone; attempted robbery of Kabrindra Shrestha; assault causing actual bodily harm on Uttam Phuyal and common assaults on Katrina Allen and Sheena Chandrakshan.
