Sausage specialist denies supplying horsemeat

A sausage and salami supplier accused of flogging horsemeat as beef has denied any knowledge of the scam. Andronicos Sideras, 55, was allegedly part of a ring of dodgy dealers who conspired to sell the contaminated meat concoction between January and November 2012. Environmental health officers uncovered the scandal when they found microchips belonging to three horses inside equine-flesh-infused meat sold by Sideras.
