A ‘morally contemptible’ banker who was paid £2.2m in bribes to approve huge loans for gas and oil projects in former Soviet states was jailed for six years today (Tues). Andrey Ryjenko, 44, ‘lost his moral compass’ as he received corrupt payments while working for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) between July 2008 and November 2009.
