Son accused of murdering ill mother

A son accused of murdering his elderly Alzheimer’s sufferer mother has been remanded in custody. Steffon Hewitt, 47, allegedly killed Venita by stamping on her back. He called an ambulance to their home on Blakes Road, Southwark, in the early hours of 8 March. Paramedics attended the property after Hewitt told them his mother had slipped in the shower, prosecutors claim.
