Sri Lankan Brigadier facing jail over throat-slit gestures

A Sri Lankan Brigadier and former diplomat who was filmed making throat-slitting gestures at Tamil protesters outside his country’s High Commission building faces jail. Andige Fernando was attending the Sri Lankan Independence Day Celebration at the building in Hyde Park Gardens on 4 February last year when he was spotted gesticulating at demonstrators.
