The ex-wife of former Liberian president Charles Taylor was refused bail today (MON) ahead of her trial for torturing children and plotting to commit rape during the civil war nearly 30 years ago. Coventry University lecturer Agnes Reeves Taylor, 52, is accused of inflicting severe pain or suffering ‘in the performance of her official duties’ in the African country between 1989 and 1991.
