A rapist who preyed on a devout 13-year-old virgin

A rapist who preyed on a devout 13-year-old virgin on her
way to church has been jailed for eight years by an Old Bailey
judge.

Christopher King, 24, lured the girl into his car pretending
he would take her to church.

He then told her he wanted to go with her the following week
and drove her to his home to write down her name and address.

But once inside the flat he locked the door, yanked up her
skirt and raped her.

The court heard since her ordeal the girl feels dirty all
the time and believes that her strict parents blame her for what
happened.

Passing sentence, Judge Nina Lowry told the convicted rapist:
‘You were a total strangers to each other.

‘You decided to stop your car and see if you could pick her
up.

‘It must have been absolutely obvious to you as soon as you
spoke to her that not only was she young, but also unsophisticated
and in no sense streetwise.

‘You took advantage of her immaturity.

She was not sexually
experienced in matters of sexual intercourse.

‘She has had to have counselling and one hopes that in time
the mental scars will heal and she will be able to put this dreadful
experience behind her.

The judge added: ‘There has been no sign of remorse.

‘
The court heard the girl was waiting for bus near her Norbury
home to take her to her South Croydon church at around 10.

45am when
King pulled up in his blue Escort.

She got into the car when King offered her a lift, but instead
of taking the innocent youngster to her church he drove instead to his
home in Ardfern Avenue, Streatham.

Unsuspecting he lured into his bedroom, King quickly locked the
door.

He then told her she had nice eyes and suggested she take her
jacket off because it was hot, said prosecutor Miss Sonia Woodley.

‘He asked her whether she smoked or drank.

He said he did all
the bad things in life,’ said counsel.

The girl became suspicious and asked to leave, pretending she
would come back after church.

But King then began pulling her skirt up as the girl protested
she would be late for the sermon.

He then raped the teenager, who had decided resistance was
pointless.

King got dressed and gave her a lift back to the bus stop.

When she finally arrived at church the girl was crying, shaking
and gasping for breath.

She tearfully told church elders what had happened and the
following day the pastor drove her around the area to try and trace
King’s address.

When the girl pointed it out the police were called and King
was arrested.

Intially he told detectives nothing had happened the Sunday
before, giving evidence he claimed she had consented to sex.

The jury rejected his story and convicted King of rape on
September 13 last year.

The court heard he had worked in the ticket office for London
Underground and was about to be promoted a ticket supervisor but was
sacked when cannabis was found in his blood during a medical
examination.

The officer in the case, Det Const Robert Currie told the
court that since the ordeal the victim has become ‘quiet and
withdrawn.

‘
‘She has become resentful of her parents because she considers
they may blame her in some way.

‘She feels dirty and now relates more to the people in the
church than to her parents,’ the officer added.

As he was sentenced King maintained the blank expression
he had worn throughout the trial as he was led to the cells.
