A trio of ‘wicked’ animals have been caged for a total of
35 years for a series of horrific rape attacks on a prostitute.
The 33-year-old mother of three had been ‘petrified’ and
thought she was going to die after she had been abducted in Lordship
Road, Stamford Hill, n.
London by Sayed Abbas, 23, and Adnan Malik,
who was only 16 at the time.
Snaresbrook Crown Court had heard how she was threatened with
a shotgun at the beginning of a three ‘phase’ ordeal which spanned
24 hours between July 17 and July 18 last year.
Adnan Malik’s older cousin Martin Malik, 20, had been convicted
last month by a jury of taking part in the final stage of the
‘digusting’ events at the victim’s home.
Abbas, of Katherine Road, East Ham, had pleaded guilty to rape,
robbery, having a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence,
kidnap, indecent assault and committing an unnatural act with the
woman.
Jobless Abbas, who also as an address in Foleshill Road,
Foleshill, Coventry, also admitted two further charges of rape, one of
indecent assault and another charge of committing an unnatural act.
Adnan Malik, now 17, of Spencer Road, East Ham, pleaded guilty to
rape, robbery, kidnap, having a firearm with intent to commit an
indictable offence, two charges of indecent assault and a charge of
committing an unnatural act.
Unemployed Martin Malik, of Abbots Road, East Ham, had been found
guilty by the jury of a charge of rape, one of committing an unnatural
act and one of indecent assault.
Passing sentence, Judge Owen Stable, QC, told the trio:
‘I have never in my whole career heard of criminal offences
where the perpetrators of the offences were worse or more wicked.
‘The fact that the victim was a prostitute does not mitigate the
offences.
She is entitled to as much protection as the courts can give
her.
‘
Judge Stable said it was Abbas and Adnan Malik, wielding a gun and
knife, then a schoolboy, who first raped her in an alleyway.
‘You both threatened her with your weapons and she was petrified
and thought her last hours had come.
‘You did everything you could to humiliate her.
You addressed her
as a whore and a bitch and you spat in her face as further indignation.
‘No animal, however base, could treat one of its own kind in this
way.
‘
Judge Stable described the various assaults carried out by all
three of the defendants as ‘particularly revolting.
‘ The Judge
sentenced Abbas, who was present during all three of the sex attacks
to a total of 16 years imprisonment.
Judge Stable ordered Adnan Malik – who took part in rapes in an
alleyway and at the victim’s home – to be detained for a total of nine
years in a Young Offenders’ Institute.
The judge ordered Martin Malik to be detained in a Young
Offenders’ Institute for a total of ten years.
The court had heard how during the summer of last year the
woman had been soliciting for clients in Stamford Hill, when she
was picked up by Abbas ‘on the promise of pnds stlg 20 for sexual
intercourse.
‘
Unbeknown to her Adnan Malik was hiding in the car boot.
Prosecuting Mr Richard Horwell, said that she was driven to a
dark alleyway in Stoke Newington where Abbas took a fearsome shotgun
from his car and threatened to blow her brains out.
Adnan Malik then jumped out of the boot with a knife and at
gunpoint she was ordered to undress by Abbas.
Mr Horwell continued: ‘What followed over the next 24 hours or
so was a series of violent sexual assaults and indignations carried
out by these three defendants.
‘
In the first ‘stage’ in the deserted alleyway she had to perform
a sex act with Abbas and the youngest Malik in turn, before she was
raped and forced to submit to unnatural acts by the pair.
The court heard that she was robbed of about pnds stlg 20,
bundled into the car boot and told to give directions to her flat
in Woodford Green, Essex, where the foul attack by the two continued.
Later on the evening of July 17 Abbas, armed with a knife, this
time joined by Martin Malik returned to her flat, where unlike the
first visit, her two daughters – then aged 11 and three – were now
at home.
Although she complained, the pair came in and she was told to
move the girls from her bedroom so they could go in with her, the
court was told.
Counsel said that Abbas forced the tearful woman to perform a
variety of sex acts while he was alone with her and then Martin
Malik, forced her to indulge in a sex act with him.
They then subjected her to a two-and-a-half hour ordeal of rape
and unnatural acts.
Abbas and Martin Malik later had a discussion about the mum
working for them as a prostitute.
Their proposal was for her to get
fifty percent of her earnings for ‘100 per cent protection.
‘
When they left the next morning, Abbas told her he would be back
at 7pm.
But police were called and later that afternoon they kept her
flat under observation.
Abbas and Martin Malik arrived at 5pm in the Nissan and were
arrested by armed police.
Hidden in the loft at Abbas’s home detectives went on to find
the sawn-off shotgun he had used to terrorise the woman.
Martin Malik’s teenage cousin was arrested on the evening of
July 18.
The court had heard that a doctor’s examination of the victim
produced findings ‘entirely consistent’ with the assaults she
described.
Defending Adnan Malik, Mr Richard Hayden, conceded that the case
was ‘disgusting and horrifying – in particular with the fear that
must have been engendered in this victim.
