A punter who imprisoned and assaulted a pnds stlg 250 a
night prostitute then sent her on her way with just 40p has been
put on probation for three years.

Reynold Grant, 46, met Sharon Watson, 32, in Kings Cross,
on the night of January 17 last year.

She had travelled to London from her home in Leicester to
ply her trade in the notorious red light area.

Grant spotted her in a car with a regular client and dragged
her into the street.

He asked her what she charged for a night of passion and
Miss Watson replied pnds stlg 250, said prosecutor Mr Nicholas
Jones.

Grant agreed to pay her pnds stlg 200, said the money
was back at his flat and drove her there.

But nce at Grant’s home in Holloway Road (corr) East Ham,
the woman became nervous and tried to leave, but found Grant had
locked the door.

She screamed and banged the door but no one came to
her aid and Grant punched her in the face and ribs.

Miss Grant had consensual sex with him after he told
her the money was in the bank.

Unable to escape, she stayed in the flat overnight and
Grant sent her on her way the following morning with just 40p
bus fare.

He denied common assault and false imprisonment but was
convicted by the jury.

Mr David Green, defending, said Grant is a ‘polite and
extremely gentle man’ but has a ‘personality problem’ with
his relations to women.

After reading confidential case papers, Judge Neil Denison,
QC, simply told Grant, who has been in custody on remand since
his arrest: ‘I want you out of prison as soon as possible.

‘
Grant repeatedly thanked the judge as he walked free
from court.
