A naked woman stabbed her boyfriend to death becau
A naked woman stabbed her boyfriend to death because she was convinced he had another lover, the Old Bailey heard today (WEDS).
Jealous Margaret Belgiad, 40, plunged a kitchen knife through Martin Higgins’ heart during a furious row at their house, the jury was told.
She had earlier allegedly told Mr Higgin’s sister: ‘He has got another woman – I’m going to kill him.
‘
When police arrived at the home following a 999 call, they found Mr Higgins, 39, sprawled on the kitchen floor.
Belgiad, who was drunk and wearing just a T-shirt, told officers she couldn’t remember what had happened.
But, when she phoned the emergency services earlier that evening, Belgiad – known to pals as ‘Jane’ – had told the operator Mr Higgins had fallen on the knife by accident.
Prosecuting QC Charles Miskin told the jury: ‘When interviewed by police, she said she had no idea what had happened at the flat.
‘At no stage did she say that they had a fight and that she stabbed him because she thought he was attacking her.
‘But we say she did murder him, and it may well be that she wasn’t wearing any clothes at the time of his death.
‘
The jury was told how Belgiad and Mr Higgins, both originally from Perth, Scotland, had been for an afternoon drinking session at a British Legion club near their home in Hounslow, Middx, before the incident on November 28 last year.
But after having a row at the club, self-employed carpenter Mr Higgins stormed off home.
Mum-of-five Belgiad later got a cab back to the maisonette, and a row ensued when she arrived.
The court heard that Mr Higgins suspected her of romping with the cab driver, asking them: ‘Who is this, your boyfriend? She likes foreigners.
‘
An hour later, distraught Belgiad dialled 999 and blustered: ‘Right, listen.
We have had an accident in the kitchen – my husband has fallen on a knife.
‘It went right in his chest, and blood is pouring out of him.
‘
Emergency services rushed to the house, but Mr Higgins was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem later showed he had suffered a single stab wound through the heart, and that the knife had twisted when it was in his chest.
Mr Miskin added: ‘It is evident from her 999 call that they were having some sort of argument, and therefore she was present when the incident occured.
‘Some time before this, Mr Higgins’ sister had a series of phone conversations with the defendant, in which she claimed he had another woman.
‘She told the sister she was going to kill him.
‘
Belgiad, of the Redwood Estate, Cranford Lane, Hounslow, denies murder.
The trial continues.
