A crazed killer who stabbed his aunt to death in front of horrified Christmas shoppers must wait at least another month to hear his fate.

Engineer Jahangir Ahmed, 34, plunged an eight-inch knife into Naseem Tariq’s neck and arm as she bought presents at a store in Slough, Berks, on December 15, 1998.

It is believed he snapped after becoming depressed through work problems and the break-up of his marriage.

Mother-of-five Naseem, 34, of Shortlea, Wexham, died from two stab wounds to her neck after the grisly attack in Sports Crest.

Last year her nephew Ahmed admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Last month Mr Justice Blofeld sent Ahmed for psychiatric assessment at Oxford Clinic’s medium-secure unit under section 38 of the Mental Health Act, 1983.

Today (tue) at the Old Bailey Mr Justice Blofeld simply adjourned the case for another 28 days when, if the reports are ready, sentence will finally be passed.

Ahmed, of Colonial Road, Slough, did not attend the brief hearing, and the judge extended the Section 38 order in his absence.
