The man accused of murdering TV’s Jill Dando retur
The man accused of murdering TV’s Jill Dando returned to the Old Bailey today (Fri) for a 15 minute hearing.
Barry George, 40, appeared in the dock flanked by prison officers, wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
He is still due to stand trial on April 23.
At today’s hearing George’s counsel Michael Mansfield, QC, briefly discussed the trial timetable with the Recorder of London, Judge Michael Hyam.
The Recorder then heard an application from the QC in private.
Bearded George, who changed his to Bulsara in honour of his idol Freddie Mercury, is said to have gunned Jill down on the doorstep of her home in Gowan Avenue, Fulham, on April 26, 1999.
The accused killer, who lived less than half a mile away in Crookham Road, was arrested 13 months after the shooting.
The trial was originally set to begin in February but the case hit a snag and was put off for eight weeks.
