Jermaine Prince, 21, was not charged with the killing of his relative but his boasts to kill Leroy Hunter landed him in the dock of the Old Bailey, the court heard.

‘They were said in such a manner and with such vehemence and persistence that he must have had intention that the threat would be carried out,’ said Tom Wilkins, prosecuting.

The body of Keith Webb, the defendant’s uncle, was found at his home in Ellison Road, Streatham, southwest London, on January 22, this year.

The victim had been robbed of bank cards which were later used to withdraw money from cashpoints in London, the court heard.

Prince’s brother Leroy and a pal Leroy Hunter were both arrested in connection with the attack and quizzed by police, jurors were told.

The defendant was arrested a week later after attending South Norwood Police Station.

When interviewed he denied knowing Mr Hunter and claimed he had never met the man, the jury was told.

But he turned aggressive when he learned the man had accused him of splitting the proceeds of his uncle’s cash with his brother, it is alleged.

Mr Wilkins said: ‘In the course of his taped interviews he said, ”Me going to hunt the pusshole out, name Hunter”.

‘He later said: ”I want to find that pusshole for skull kill.

Little bloodclat, yeah.

”I want to get that pusshole and shoot in the face”.

‘

The prosecutor said a Jamaican interpreter would be called and will tell the jury the comments are slang for killing.

Prince, of [38] Riggindale Road, Streatham, southwest London, denies making threats to kill on February 3, this year.

The trial continues.
